hey
good to know u guys do read blog
so here's a update
after three wks of band break we finally had band again!mr gloss/glauze(wadeva) came to see our practise and did sm BIG changes to our sound n everyth.d brass sounded nice n loud n d clars improve too.ivanhoe sounded great when he asked us 2 use our imagination. i can realy feel wad he said bout d knight n everyth.think u guys can too right?d wonderful ting bout band muic is tt many differentthings happenin at same plc n everth tells a story.wadeva he said on tt day improved our band sound but whether we want to do it long term is up to us so work on it!
d nxt day was 4 self prac n sectionals.saw alot of ppl practisin real hard..KEEP IT UP!!! went 4 lunch n had full band taken by ms ng(hehe) d balance was nt there but it was loud n sound was big.certain parts lik 2nd movement of ivanhoe was messy n nids 2 be work on.had drills for a little while after tt.long tym since drills?sec1s seem 2 4gt everyth.think we hv to do more drills now.one thing which really irritated d bls were d sec1s attitude.is it so difficlt to shout?its nt even shoutin its jz speakin loud.sm of u can even smile when being punished.n when d whole band was marchin on s spot, u guys think its funny to compete with d others n disrupt d timing?tts a stupid thing 2 do.it does nt benefit any1.in d end u guys jz ended up marchin real long.one band one sound.how can u ppl play 2gether when u cant march 2gether?
anyway sch startin soon..those who hv nt finished hw, jiayou!!once sch reopens there wun b much time for practisin.our rehaersal n SCH is on 13th feb.we only hv ONE chance to prac there.so pls dun go there n ork out notes or anyth like tt.1go there n perform like u will do in syf.d acoustics there r very differeht frm VCH or our band room so take this chance to go n gt used to it.in order 2 do tt u must know ur parts well
oh n one thing i noticed.sm sec1s r coming back 2 practise regularly.ppl like sherry yan ting irene kenny timothy.keep it up guys!!

Ok I'm going to bring across this crystal-clear to all of you. The results of the audition today will not be released until further notice so please back off and relax for the moment first. But this does not mean you can forget about practising anymore because for all I know, this audition really shows how much you all practise and how much effort you all really put in.
I know what some of you guys out there are thinking. "If fail, just quit band"- This is not the right mindset ok? Furthermore, I don't even think the teachers will hear this absurd reason. If you think you had not been doing very well, then we should expect more practice from you. You think you can leave your instrument aside, then suddenly one day you take it out and you can play fantasically well? That only happens in miracles so don't be naive and please practise!
Some of you really got nice tone (I'm serious) but you are not making full use of it. Really wasted. Honestly speaking, how many of us are music talents here? That's why we need to work even harder. Music may not be in our blood but it's part of our life now.
Come on sec 1s! We know you can do it! And you must believe you can do it too! Whether or not you did well today, doesn't matter anymore. It's over. It matters more if you are going to work harder or not in future.
Please. We really don't want to lose you.

BOO! Here to tell and REMIND you what's going on this week!
This week's special highlight is the sec 1 audition on Tuesday! Each sec 1 is tested on scales (concert Bb, Eb, Ab, C, F, G), rhythm and sight-reading skills. Don't worry. It's not going to be too tough. It is almost the least you should know in order to promote to main band.
Though this audition is initiated by the BLs, it does not mean sec ls do not need to do your very best. If you can't make it, we still can hold you back. This is a test to show your ability to play by now. Therefore please take this seriously.
AUDITION! 12 DECEMBER 2006
9 AM IN BANDROOM
PLEASE BE PUNCTUAL!
For those unable to make it for the audition, please tell any of the BLs before Tuesday to make special arrangements. Thanks.
For clarification, contact me (shi ling) at 94306063, germaine at 98212637 or yiyong.
warmest regards,

Hey there! Ever wonder who you really are? Or what's your character like? Stroll down to find out more. Are you...1) A person who has a nervous-breakdown during performances? Feel like sweat breaking out all the while? Shivering with fear up on stage? Legs wombly like jelly and cannot even sit or stand still? 2) A person who dares to take challenges and faces all obstacles and circumstances with guts like a man? Staying calm and holding a clear mind all the time? Focused and know what you are doing? Are you...1) Someone who dares not venture out and try something new? Or afraid to make the slightest mistake in your life?2) Somewho wants to achieve the IMPOSSIBLE? Or perhaps the word 'impossible' is not even in your dictionary? Will you...1) Collapse as if your world has crumbled down upon you when you failed to do as good as expected?2) Take each failure as an experience, thinking "when you lose, do not lose the lesson"?Do you...1) Give up after a setback and lose faith in yourself from that point onwards?2) Continue believing in yourself no matter what happens for your mindset is "it is amazing what you can achieve if you believe you can"?Are you someone who...1) Has no plan for your future? Living and counting each day?2) Planning for your future since you believe that we all need to have a direction in life?IMPORTANT! SERIOUS! URGENT! If you take this quiz and have been honest with yourself, you should be able to know who you are. If you got mostly 1s, you need some counselling and consultation. Kindly seek any BLs help. Don't worry, it will be kept confidential. If you got mostly 2s, you are positive person who looks outwards to life.Being confident about yourself is very important. "Some people dream of success...while others wake up and work for it"- No joke nsl-_-_-

Yo yo yo! I'm BACK! Sorry been busy but here I come again. Here to bring you some goooood news. After speaking to our very understanding VP (mr chia), he has agreed to allow us leaders to draw the bandroom key and this in turn will sure bring a lot of convenience for us. Now we don't have to worry that we do not have enough time for sectionals or self-practice. Got hope le!Since now even heaven is standing on our side, we better make full use of it. Haha more sectionals will sure do you good. Heard someone say before 'the weakest player is the strongest player' (I think is mr kiang if I'm not wrong), really do make sense right? Each member counts.OH YA! Also, band chalet is coming up! It is the highlight of this month. How many times can we get this? Like once a year??? So please do come. All band members are welcome. It can be your friends-in-band-bonding, section-bonding ..etc etc.... Just come and have fun. Really hope it will be a good response! Since this's a BAND chalet, I'm thinking if we should organise some games and activities to bond... if not due to past experiences, I believe you all will most likely be hanging out with just your own gang of friends.Might as well get together right? The more the merrier! Haha ok end here le... may god bless you!North South Line _-_-_
Wanted continue post last night but com black out..anyway here goes..
Sec1s had their 1st taste of life in main band last fri.mr tan criticize sm ppl qutieopenly but dun take it too personally.its his way of forcing us to improve.think u guys did improve quite abit frm d last time u played Ivanhoe so keep it up!actually d 1st combined prac is in dec but hey gtting a headstart doesn’t hurt right?heard frm mr desouza tt amkss sec1s also had rehearsals on syf pieces with main band already.
Choice was out on 27th nov and we were 1 of the first few schools 2 sightead it but it doesn’t make a diff if we don’t practise hard.morale of story?practise..’-‘ll sunrise or safari?voted n chose safari.both pieces hv their difficulties so doesn’t really matter. Safari is abit more exciting I guess.
Springcleaning for committee members tmr.plz remember to bring a rag.its time to clean tt filthy dirty room.
Oh and the percussion instruments arrived last fri too.drumset n d gong tt is taller than Justin.haha grow fatser Justin.we also learnt to breathe to our buttocks. Can see d tension for SYF is already starting to build up?d audition is in feb nxt yr.nt much time left ok.. so lts all start taking in more Vit A!

Hi guys..if yy post is late my is super late?
Here’s a brief summary of the remaining of the aust trip.
Day 3: we went for another exchange at Grace college. Performed for about 30 students and we played much better than the two other performance. Went to the farm after that and had a lot of fun activities such as sheep shearing and watching farmers demo-ing how to throw boomerangs and etc etc etc. we moved to another hotel which was beside the beach.cool!oh we also played a games in the hotel lobby. The losers had to have their fingers painted with all the weird colours of nail polish.
Day 4:went to movie world and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. There were lotsa thrill rides and movie characters walking all over the place. Tour gudie brought us to a shop where all the aust specialized goods such as nougats and koala bear toys were sold. Played the same cuckoo game in d night and mr tan and mr foo had their nails painted.hahaha
Day 5:shopped for the ENTIRE day. Went to a big big big shopping center called pacific fair and we really shopped till we drop.mr tan bought strawberries for us to share. THANK YOU mr tan!!! Night was free and easy and I think a lot of ppl went shop again :) Mr tan woke us up at 3.30am in the morning to watch sunrise by the beach(SYF set piece is call sunrise and safari). it was freezing cold but the scenery was be-a-u ti-ful and worth the cold.checked out of the hotel at 6 and rushed to d airport. Every1 was so tired in the plane tt the air steward asked me what time we slpt the previous night! We reached changi airport safe and sound an every1 went home with sweet memories of the trip…

The bls , committee members , mr tan and band teachers are putting our best foot forward to help the band clinch a gold for syf. I know we can do it.
We are already at the silver medalist standard, which is defintely an improvement already.
Since we are halfway there already, lets just finish the race alright.
Come back to school with that shimmering gold with honours,
and i assure all of you,
that you will feel very satisfied with yourself.
The increasing amount of efforts most of you are putting in can be seen.
I just ask those who havent , to start,
and those who already did,
to keep improving,
keep making our XMSB music,
sound better and better.
Cheerios,
yy.
